University of Leicester's Heroes Day!

We partnered up with The University of Leicester to hold a 'Heroes Day' to celebrate the many unsung heroes who do such tremendous work locally.

Also taking part in the drive were four local colleges...

Beauchamp College in Oadby, Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth College in Leicester, Gateway College in Hamilton, Leicester and last but not least Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough Leicestershire...

You can see pictures from these events on separate pages dedicated to each college/academy event!

The University of Leicester had a large marquee set up in the middle of the University campus, there were lots of fun things to do, music entertainment food and drink... oh and we were there signing up hundreds of prospective donors to the register! we'll post pictures from the event soon...

But thats not all!

We were also looking for real heroes (in addition to all those that signed up of course)

We scoured Leicestershire looking for unsung heroes to receive a University of Leicester, Leicester Hero Award and be treated to a VIP lunch.

A ‘Leicester Hero’ is someone who has enriched the lives of others, has shown dedication and selflessness, has made a special and significant impact on an individual, families, or the community at large and has gone 'above and beyond' to serve and inspire others.

We had a panel of judges who worked hard to whittle nominates down to six  Heroes. The chosen heroes were presented with their awards on event day and treated to a three-course fantastic  lunch alongside other special VIPs. It was a brilliant day. Pictures coming soon...

Have a read the press release here...

LJCC Construction Awards 2016

We were invited by the LJCC to their construction awards at College court Leicester... Rik gave a talk at the awards, the extremely generous attendees raised funds for the charity and we even signed up a lifesaver! Kate Fry (bottom picture) is pictured below between Rik and England Leicester Tigers Rugby legend Leon Lloyd. Leon wooed the audience with his tremendously insightful and humorous rugby anecdotes, and what an extremely nice man too...

Big thanks to Andrew Oldershaw (middle left) and his hard working team for making us feel so welcome.

LLS 'Strictly Phantom' Masquerade Ball

Leicestershire Law Society (LLS) held their annual awards in May. As one of their chosen charities we were there, but the evening had a twist. Rik  together with nine other lawyers from the LLS had been taking dancing lessons and had been training hard for weeks before. An equal number of professional dancers teamed up with amateur partners and coached them to perform for the 400 or so guests on the night. The theme for the evening was Phantom of the Opera, it was an absolutely amazing night... The 'team' of dancers performed a Catherine Waltz a big thanks to all the professional dancers for getting us through the challenge, it was great fun.

We all had a fantastic night of music, entertainment and dancing as well as of course witnessing the awards handed out to many deserving recipients. Rik was able to give a short presentation to outline the charities work and thanks the LLS for their immense support received throughout the year. It has been an amazing year, not only has LLS raised a large amount of money to support the charity, they have also helped recruit donors, one of the solicitors who signed up during last years 'Pass It On' campaign has even come up as a donor match and is undergoing tests and may well save a life!

Thank-you to the Leicestershire Law Society and a special thanks to the LLS outgoing president Mehmooda Duke for all the amazing support!
