Regent College Leicester

25Apr2013

A stem cell donor registration event took place on   the26th April 2013 as part of Regent College's "Health Day"  with students helping to run the event for students...

We managed to recruit a staggering 417 new donors! This is a new Anthony Nolan record for the highest ever single college recruitment event. What makes it all the more remarkable is that the figure represents almost half the numbers that attend the college.

A very big thank you to Leicester Riders... four elite athletes from the club popped along to the event to help support us and what's more two of them registered!

As part of the programme of awareness raising within the college Rik made a short clip to  appeal for students to support the event...

The event is being supported by the Leicestershire Federation of Muslim Organisations, you can view their page here...

Please find below a message of support from (Maulana) Mohammad Shahid Raza ...Principal Imam - Leicester Central Mosque, Conduit Street, Leicester.

"I fully support the Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign, it is a life saving initiative and in accordance with Shariah Law I would like to urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to come forward and donate blood so that the Muslim community may be at the forefront in helping those who are stricken by blood cancer. Saving a life in Islam is a highly rewarding act and to the best of my knowledge Muslim scholars and muftis from different or various traditions support blood donation as a generous act of kindness."
